Whisky Galore a Musical! is based on the novel by Compton Mackenzie about the true life event of the SS Politician running aground off Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides during WW2.

It was first staged as a 1 hour production by Cutting Edge Theatre Productions in 2006 in the Edinburgh Fringe with writer Shona McKee McNeil and composer Ian Hammond Brown working together for the first time. In 2008, Pitlochry Festival Theatre commissioned Ian & Shona to re-work the Fringe production into a 2 hour version, to launch their 2009 Homecoming Season. The show played to full houses throughout the season which lasted from May – October. As well as being the first full scale musical ever at Pitlochry, it became the best selling show in PFT’s 58 Year history.

It was revived by PFT in Oct/Nov 2011 for their first Autumn Season. See the excerpts video below:
